If you would like join a dance...

Dancers,

If you would like to add or drop a dance, seeing that it now works or doesn't work with your schedule, please email the choreographers to ask their permission first. The choreographers will then decide if they would like to add you and notify me via email. Here are their emails:

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE & CAST LISTS

Hey Dancers & Choreographers!

Sorry for the wait. Scheduling was a fiasco. But it's done. I apologize for not getting everyone's first choices in. Remember, some of those dances required auditions and choreographers offered input on who they wanted in their dances. Please don't try to take any of the choices personally.

Please let me know ASAP if I accidentally left you out or if any of the dances you were cast in no longer work with your schedule/interest. I apologize!

Follow the link to a Google Doc that has pages of info on Excel. If you don't have a Google Doc account, just sign in with your email address.

Click the tabs in the upper left corner to see:
1. Rehearsal schedules
2. Cast lists

So Here it is! And great job everyone! I think the dance concert will be great!

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE & CAST LISTS (click this)

Sorry again

My email account is down. I just got a last-minute schedule change from a choreographer and that messed everything up. Sorry, everyone. I'm doing the best I can! There's so many of you and only one of me. Don't worry, I'll email everyone and post the cast lists up here. Please be patient.

You'll know tonight.

Sorry everyone. Casting and scheduling is taking me longer than expected. There are over 160 dancers in the show and 29 choreographers. There's never been this many! I just got in some last minute schedules and choreographers schedules today, which are vital to the whole scheduling process, so that's why it's taking this long. You'll know tonight. I'll email everyone.

Thanks for being patient.

So you missed the choreographic showing...

Please view the choreographic showing videos (~10 minutes each) and rank your top dances.

Email me:
1. How many dances you'd like to be in.
2. Names of top choreographers.
3. Rehearsal availability for Spring (if you haven't already)
4. If this is your first time dancing in the concert.

(I quickly put this video together so I apologize for the weird editing around Megan's piece. I'm embarrassed this happened. :/)

There are two videos:
1. No auditions required.
2. Auditions only/preferred.

So...what dance am I in?

Great job with the choreographic showing last Thurs. everyone!

As you all know, I am supposed to email everyone with the concert cast lists by this Tues. but I don't think that is plausible right now. Instead, I will email everyone by the end of this week on Fri.

I'm sorry for the change of date (as I know most of you are dying to know what dances you'll be in...) but I will still need to hear from those dancers that didn't make the showing and that won't happen until the middle of this week.

I apologize again!

Choreographic Showing tomorrow

Who's excited to see some dancing??

"Unleashed" Choreographic Showing tomorrow (Thurs.) @ 6 p.m. in dance studio.
(It will be hard to tell what time it will be over. Plan on being there until 8 or 9)

What to expect:
  • Choreographers will explain and showcase some of their choreography to all dancers
  • Dancers will rank the dances they intend to be in
  • Dancers will fill out rehearsal availabilities for spring
  • Those choreographers who have informed me will have a mini-audition for their dances. (Please be prepared that some similiar dance genre auditions will be grouped into one. i.e. All jazz dances will audition under one jazz choreographer)
  • Choreographers will rank the dancers they want to be in their dancers.
  • Brief Choreographers Meeting
  • Any forms, handouts, proposals that haven't already been filled out and turned into me will be dealt with at this meeting
Please:
  • Wear comfortable clothes you can dance in
  • Bring appropriate dance shoes (i.e. jazz, ballet, tap--- if you plan on auditioning for these)
  • Bring Spring Quarter class schedule (to help you with scheduling)
  • Sign liability forms (if you haven't already)
  • Turn in detached portion of concert contracts to me
  • And please be open-minded and patient! (This is the first time I've had this audition process...but I think it will work in everyone's favor)

ALL MUST ATTEND. If you haven't already cleared it with me, I regret to inform you that you can no longer participate in the concert. It is difficult enough keeping track of over 100 dancers, so I cannot afford to chase more people down if you can't commit.

Thanks to all the rest of you for being so cooperative and patient! :)

I can't wait to see all of the diverse and creative choreography tomorrow night that will help make this dance concert fantastic!!

Choreographic Showing

I know Thurs. sounds a little confusing. It's the first time auditioning for certain pieces has been done for the concert. I feel it is only fair to give choreographers a chance to see who may or may not be in their piece before I cast everyone.

Everyone, for Thurs (Mar. 5) please:

  • Wear comfortable clothes you can dance in
  • Bring shoes (jazz, ballet, tap--- if you plan on auditioning for these)
  • Bring Spring Quarter class schedule
  • Sign liability forms (if you haven't already)
  • Turn in detached portion of contracts to me
  • And please be open-minded! (this is the first time I've had this audition process...but I think it will work in everyone's favor)

This is how it will work:

  • Choreographers will share their choreography and choreographic ideas. (Bring filled out Choreography Proposals if you haven't turned them in already!)
  • Choreographers will let dancers know if they require a mini audition after all other choreographers have shown their sample choreography.
  • Dancers will rank the dances they want to be in (w/no guarantee of being cast in them)
  • After the showing, those choreographers that require a small audition will teach less than 2 eight counts of choreography to interested dancers and watch them dance. This may be choreography or it may just be technical skills (ie. # pirouettes, stylized movement, fouette turns, etc...) The studio will be divided into sections for this purpose. Choreographers will list the dancers they want in their piece (w/no guarantee yet). This will give them a fair skills assessment of dancers interested in their piece.
  • I will cast dancers in pieces dependent on availability, interests, and choreographers' input.
  • I will notify everyone when casting is complete.

Hopefully this clears a little of that confusion up...If you have more questions, please feel free to email me more or call me!
